Chamber of Commerce's Friday Night Live! Committee Donates to Four Herndon Elementary Schools

Herndon, Va.- Dec. 7, 2004. On Nov. 16th, Douglas Downer, founder and chair of the Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce's Friday Night Live! Committee, presented checks totaling $2,420.00 to representatives of Parent-Teacher organizations of four elementary schools in Herndon. The schools are Clearview Elementary, Dranesville Elementary, Herndon Elementary and Hutchinson Elementary. This sum represents the proceeds from "glow necklaces" sold by PTA representatives at free live concerts in 2004, held each Friday during summer months on the Herndon Town Green.

Friday Night Live! (FNL) is run almost entirely by volunteers and supported by the Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Herndon, The Herndon Optimist Club and a host of corporate sponsors that vary each year. This summer was the 10th concert season.

FNL has contributed over $100,000 to date to numerous community organizations, which include: Herndon Optimist Club, Herndon area Elementary parent-teacher organizations, Herndon High School's Drug & Alcohol-Free Celebration Committee, Town of Herndon, Veterans Memorial Fund, Boy Scouts, Herndon High School Girls Softball and many more.
